My first blog post

I discovered GoodReads earlier this year and have had so much fun keeping track of my books. So far I have 1809 books listed as read, with 42 on my want to read list. My read list doesn't include very many books from my childhood because I can't remember titles that far back. I reached my goal of 125 books this year two weeks ago.

I've decided to review books here because GoodReads isn't private as far as reviews go. This is mostly for my pleasure, but someone might be looking for something good to read. Sorry, I'm not going to do linkie things here because I'm just too lazy. If something looks good you'll have to make a note the old fashion way!

Messenger by Lois Lowry - The third book in The Giver series, but can be read as a stand alone. Still waiting for the second book from the library so I had to read out of order. I didn't like how this ended and probably wouldn't have like the book at all if I had read it when I was in the intended age group.

The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny - I've loved every one of her books. They started out as Three Pine mysteries but have become Armand Gamache mysteries since how many murders can one small village have? This would have received 5 stars but I'm fairly aggravated by what the author is doing to one of the main characters.

A Circle of Bones by Christina Kling - A free book I got for my Kindle. Way too much detail about sailing and boats in general, I skimmed those parts really fast. A typical there's a secret organization in charge of everything and they don't want us to know. Some gratuitous sex. Told from four different viewpoints, including one in the past. I didn't really care for this one.
